Summer Storage Solutions

Storage

Technically we aren’t quite in Summer yet, but as usual the hot temperatures outside say otherwise. Texans certainly don't wait for the first day of summer to start having a good time! Our team here at Seguin Storage knows you are ready to focus on fun and relaxation with the family, so we’ve put together some ways we can help y'all have a great summer. Winter Storage Here in Central and South Texas we don’t tend to have much winter clothing, but we definitely go all out with decorations for the holidays. If your winter gear is creating clutter in your home or garage then you may end up spending half the summer time trying to organize your vacation supplies, camping and fishing gear, etc. A self-storage unit with easy access can get the mess out of the way until you need it again. Store Valuables While Away Speaking of vacations, how much time will you be spending away from your home this summer? Your valuables deserve a high level of protection even when nobody is home. Homeowners have been turning to self storage as a way to ensure their property is locked down and secure. Seguin Storage keeps a close eye on our units via 24/7 camera surveillance and employees on-site 7 days a week most of the year. Boat & RV Storage Summer presents many great opportunities for boating at Canyon Lake or the Gulf Coast, but keeping the boat always taking up a space in the driveway can be a hassle. More importantly, leaving the boat open accessible for damage and theft can be a big risk. One of the best options to avoid this risk is to keep your boat protected inside of an enclosed boat storage unit. Seguin Storage has a building and a half dedicated to large, easily accessible units with electricity and lights in the units for boats, RVs, or any other large toys or belongings you need to keep safe. These units go up to 12’x35’ ...

Units

Climate-control means the temperature and/or humidity will stay at a constant level, which is typically between 65 and 80 degrees for our facility. Since we live in the great state of Texas, temperature will be considered an issue, especially in the summer when we average in the mid 90’s. What items need climate-control Understanding that storing at a facility where the weather has constant high temperatures and high humidity you are in risk of rust, corrosion and mold for items like: Art Delicate fabrics Delicate paper items Electronics Metals Optical discs Vinyl records Wine Wood furniture or instruments Storing these type of valuables in a climate-controlled unit will give you the comfort of knowing there will not be any issues. You will find the valuables just as you left them! Conclusion Seguin Storage recommends a climate-controlled unit if you are planning on storing sensitive items. Climate-Control vs. Non-Climate

Units

"Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it." ~ Albert Einstein Have you ever drove by a storage facility and seen “climate control”? Well, over the years the popularity of storing luxury items has been in high demand, especially when the facility has 24/7 secured access along with climate-controlled units. Seguin Storage has taken on the challenge and created a facility for the city of Seguin and the surrounding areas which will incorporate all the features that are wanted and needed by customers. Throughout this blog we will describe all the ins and outs of climate-controlled units and help you figure out if it is the right type of storage for you! Climate vs. Ambient First, you need to be able to identify the difference between ambient (non-climate-control) and climate-controlled air. Although Seguin Storage provides both types of units, being able to identify the two helps with your decision. As obvious as it sounds the most important difference is the temperature. Climate-controlled units are often kept at no lower than 65 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees (F) in the summer. This keeps the storage units from reaching extreme high and low temperatures, which depending on your items stored can be damaging. Climate-controlled units are also humidity regulated, meaning they are not humid as ambient units. As for non-climate also referred to as ambient air will follow the current outdoor temperature. Seguin Storage has ceiling insulation throughout ALL their buildings, so the temperatures in their Ambient (non-climate-controlled) units will be less affected by the outdoor temperatures, especially in the summer when the units are exposed to the sun. Another important difference between climate-controlled units and normal storage units is how they are accessed. Climate-controlled units are usually located inside a larger building, which are referred to as interior storage units. As for ambient air units, they are typically on the exterior of the buildings. Ambient units’ function and appear like a garage ...

Unit Type

Non-Climate-Controlled units are also referred to as Ambient-Air units. These type of storage units usually match the outside temperatures, but during the extremely hot summers, the temperature inside the unit will far exceed the outdoor temperature due to the exposure of the sun, especially being in Texas. Ambient units are typically ground level, exterior accessed units, which makes loading and unloading a lot more convenient than a climate-controlled units. These units can sometimes be referred to as “drive-up storage units” because they function and appear like garages. How do you know if non-climate-controlled units are right for you? Fences: Expectation vs. Reality

Safety

Don't ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up. -Robert Frost There in nothing as enticing than a facility with proper security. That is why security is a top priority for Seguin Storage. We want to do everything in our power to create a safe environment for every individual that walks through our front door. By structuring our facility to house all the advanced technological features we hope to keep everyone aware of our surroundings from motion Senor lights to access control we have incorporated it all! Although, we are aware there are situations we can’t control, so we offer renters’ insurance just to take that extra precaution. Because being safe is always better than being sorry. FENCING: Expectation Before we started integrating all our security features, we knew fencing would be a major aspect in creating a secure facility. Being that we are going to house RV, Boats, and Cars openly we want our tenants to know that they are choosing a secure location and individuals can’t walk on site without having permission. Our facility will have a wrought-iron fence that will not only protect valuables but provide durable protection that is built to last for many years. Knowing that this type of fence will stand strong and will be hard to cut through makes choosing Seguin Storage an easy decision. Don’t you think? FENCING: Reality Now, it is easy to look for one thing when searching for a storage unit and that seems to be pricing but what would if matter if you are going to diminish the safety of your valuables by not having a barrier between the location and society. The reality is, it's easy to choose the facility with minimal features because it was cheaper. But what transpires when your belongings get tampered with? Not only do you lose out on money, but you also loose items you were not ready to let go of yet. OUR GOAL Seguin ...
