Climate-Control: Explained

July 13th, 2021

Climate-control means the temperature and/or humidity will stay at a constant level, which is typically between 65 and 80 degrees for our facility. The purpose of climate-control is to keep those sensitive items protected through the heat, cold and humidity. Since we live in the great state of Texas, temperature will be considered an issue, especially in the summer when we average in the mid 90’s.

What items need climate-control

Understanding that storing at a facility where the weather has constant high temperatures and high humidity you are in risk of rust, corrosion and mold for items like:
  • Art
  • Delicate fabrics
  • Delicate paper items
  • Electronics
  • Metals
  • Optical discs
  • Vinyl records
  • Wine
  • Wood furniture or instruments
Storing these type of valuables in a climate-controlled unit will give you the comfort of knowing there will not be any issues. You will find the valuables just as you left them!

Seguin Storage recommends a climate-controlled unit if you are planning on storing sensitive items. Now, however if you are looking for a lower cost and only need your unit for a short period of time (3 months or less) climate-controlled might not be necessary.
